ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Tamika.
I’ve loved writing my whole life. In elementary school my journal entries turned into short stories, and later I majored in Creative Writing in college. After law school, I spent twenty years in government relations, but I never stopped writing. One short story became my first novel, and that novel led to two more.
Those three books reached over 350,000 women. That audience became the foundation for building a brand that earns, with partnerships, a journal series, and digital products. I created OurWritesMatter because I believe every woman over 50 deserves to take up space and share her story.
MY NOVELS
I’m not a therapist, but I play one in my books.
People tell me that reading my stories feels like spending time with a good friend or family member, and that makes me so happy. That’s why I write about characters who deal with real-life challenges that most of us have experienced, whether firsthand or through someone we know.
My stories are meant to make you think, laugh, and sometimes even cry. I enjoy adding hope, love, and redemption to every book. I want you to finish my stories feeling satisfied, inspired, understood. My characters aren’t perfect. They make mistakes, just like we all do. But with accountability, support, family, and sometimes a good therapist, they always find their way.
MY BRAND
Starting a brand at 50 in a creative world shaped by technology and AI was challenging.
Still, I was determined to succeed. Many writers don’t see themselves as able to earn money through brand partnerships, content creation, or other interests. This misunderstanding led me to start Our Writes Matter. The brand is based on the idea that a woman writer over 50’s greatest asset isn’t just her books, but her life experiences, passions, and skills gained over the years. These are what help build successful author brands, not just the books themselves. Our Writes Matter offers women writers over 50 the tools and support they need to turn writing from a hobby into a real career.
